Official Tauri v2 Plugin Standard
tauri-plugin-sync
Enterprise Local-First SQLite Sync Engine for Tauri v2
Role: Author & Core Architect (Karan Gupta)
Installation via Terminal:
$ cargo add tauri-plugin-sync
Architecture & Overview
Engineered to eliminate latency and cloud dependency for desktop applications. tauri-plugin-sync captures real-time database modifications via SQLite triggers and pushes batched, cryptographically secured deltas over HTTP with foreign key deferral and automatic exponential backoff.
Engineering Highlights
- First-class Rust Builder pattern with fallback to tauri.conf.json static configuration.
- Strict IPC security: Bearer tokens and DB paths kept strictly in Rust memory, preventing XSS credential theft.
- Granular Tauri v2 permissions system (permissions/default.toml) and scoped capability files.
- Zero-config TypeScript frontend SDK (SyncManager.init()) with full reactive status callbacks.
- Change Data Capture (CDC) triggers with Write-Ahead Logging (WAL) concurrency.
Development Milestones
v0.1.0 (October 2026): Initial release with trigger-based CDC, WAL concurrency, and bi-directional delta synchronization.
Architecture Refactor (October 2026): Implemented official Tauri Builder API, strict IPC hardening, and granular permission sets following maintainer review.
